One awesome thing about the past weekend retreat that I held was the time to indulge in a little steampunk stamping! As I set about creating this card, and using some of the Tim Holtz Idea-ology embellishments that I got for Christmas, some of the retreat attendees noticed what I was doing and gave me some awesome steampunk-like stuff from their collections! How excited do you think I was!?
The ladies also taught me one exciting technique to create texture which involves cheesecloth, heavy watercolor paper and modge podge glue. I'm going to give it a try as soon as I can and I'll show you the results and let you know how to do it.
- I used several stamp sets to create the collage background along with some Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper. Butterfly Basics, Gorgeous Grunge and Guy Greetings all worked together, with Early Espresso, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake ink to produce this vintage feel.
- I stamped the muscle man from Guy Greetings, hand-cropped him and popped him up on dimensionals to give a 3D effect to the card. All the Tim Holtz embellishments add to that effect.
- The sentiment is from Guy Greetings and is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Decorative Label punch, It's backed with another label, punched from Early Espresso cardstock, cut in half vertically and glued on either end of the sentiment.
- The Naturals Chevron Ribbon gives the right masculine vintage look to the card.
