The Paper Player's have a Theme challenge this week and the theme is Transportation. There were some obvious choices, but I wanted something a little more creative so I turned to a retiring Hostess stamp set, called Time to Celebrate. I love this sketched hot air balloon and it is not a common mode of transportation so I ran with it. I used Mojo Monday's Challenge sketch for the layout of the card! Perfect!
Here are the two challenges:
- I decided on a palette of Island Indigo, Rose Red and Whisper White. It's quite a crisp combination and I like the contrasts. That's got to be, what? maybe 4 times now that I've ever used Rose Red. I think it's growing on me!
- I love the whimsical sketched images in Time to Celebrate. It's one of the Hostess Sets in the Occasions Catalogue, so it will be retired once June 2 rolls around.
- The sentiment originally read: "I get carried away over you". I suppose I could have left it that way, but I didn't want the "over you" part in there. I wanted it to be consistent with the transportation theme so I masked that part with some tape and inked it up. I removed the tape and stamped the greeting and the "over you", which had no ink, didn't print.
- I stamped the hot air balloon in Island Indigo and coloured in parts with a Rose Red Stampin' Write Marker. I hand cut it with Paper Snips and mounted it on a piece of Island Indigo cardstock and cropped it again by hand, leaving a 1/16" margin around the outside, estimating as I went. It gives the image a little more definition and it's not too hard to do.

What a great transportation card! I agree - a hot air balloon is not traditional transportation! Thanks for playing along with the Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool....what a great image and fun sentiment! I don't have ANY interesting transportation stories compared to yours...I mostly keep my feet on the ground, I guess! Thanks for sharing this with us this week at the Paper Players!
