Bohemian Birthday Card

I have a friend who loves colour and fun! She is my polar opposite in a lot of ways. She is extroverted while I am more introverted. She loves bold expression while I am more subtle and conservative in what I wear. She is people focused while I am task oriented. But while we have differences, we share a lot of common interests as well. We both love movies and theatre. We share a love of card making, stamping and crafting. We mentor each other in our faith. So when I saw the Bohemian Designer Series Paper in my pre-order from the new 2015/16 Annual Catalogue, I knew it was the right paper to use for my friend's birthday card! She actually has the same birthday as my granddaughter and we were away for my granddaughter's first birthday, so I was a tad late getting this made. I used last week's Mojo Monday sketch for my layout, but was to late to add it to the gallery.

I also used a new stamp set, Friendly Wishes, for the tag on this card and a very cool new punch, the Banner Triple Punch, which can create flagged ends for your banners in three different widths, plus one more smaller size using the guides marked on it.

• The card base is the new In Colour, Delightful Dijon. It's about the darkest yellow we've had for awhile, even browner than More Mustard, I think. But it goes very well with the regal and jewel toned colours in our Stampin' Up! families. In the Bohemian DSP, it is paired with Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay for a very dramatic effect.
• The background DSP and the strip of DSP down the middle are both from the Bohemian Designer Series, while the Bermuda Bay flag is from the retiring Birthday Bash DSP.
• The sentiment from Friendly Wishes is perfect for my friend. She is so good at going out of her way to care for others. I added the happy birthday on the punched heart of Delightful Dijon from the And Many More stamp set, but the little flourish underneath is from the Friendly Wishes set.
• Many of the elements on this card are backed with Blackberry Bliss cardstock. I either offset the same punched shape to get a shadow, cut it a little bigger than the main element, or, in the case of the tag, I punched both the Very Vanilla stamped tag and the Blackberry Bliss cardstock using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, then trimmed down the Very Vanilla tag by 1/8" on the sides and bottom to create the border between them.
