I have been preparing for my Holiday Catalogue launch on this coming Saturday, making samples from the stamp sets and dies that I purchased from the catalogue. This set, Signs of Santa, is not one I would typically buy, but somehow, the images charmed me so much that I couldn't resist them. But this is the first time I've had the chance to play with them. I looked at the array of elves, Santa and Mrs. Claus, signposts and signs, wagon and gifts and tried to come up with a unique concept for my card. After some thought, I had a brainwave and came up with this:
- The scenario I had in my mind was that of an elf hauling a wagon full of gifts to the North Pole, when, unbeknownst to him, another elf had hopped aboard for a free ride. I could imagine the first elf struggling with the load getting harder to pull, but not realizing why until he arrived at his destination!
- All these images are easy and fun to colour in using Stampin' Blends, or watercolours. I love using Stampin' Blends because you can then stamp on plain Whisper White cardstock instead of using Watercolour Paper or Shimmery White cardstock. And we have a whole new selection of colours added to the Stampin' Blends family in this Holiday Catalogue. I used the Cherry Cobbler Combo, the Old Olive Combo, the Soft Suede Combo, Ivory, the retired Pink Pirouette Combo, the Light Daffodil Delight and the Pool Party Combo.
- The card base is Poppy Parade and the DSP layer is from the Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper. The ribbon that adorns the top is the Poppy Parade 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon.
- I die cut the green elf and the North Pole sign board using the Santa's Signpost Framelits, which you can bundle with the stamp set and save 10%, and attached them to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
If you're in my area, plan on attending my FREE Holiday Catalogue Launch on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 1 - 3 pm. Register by Thursday, Sept. 20, here.
