Well, I have a very strange card for you today. It's part of the As You See It Challenge #227 Design Team samples. Challenge #227 is a Fill in the Blank Challenge. That means you fill in the blank on the challenge banner with a word or phrase that best completes it for you. Then you make a card or other project based on your answer. And the question to answer this week is: One of my favourite movies is ________________.
Now, I kind of want you to guess what my favourite all time movie is by looking at my card. If you can't guess, I'll give you the answer at the bottom. I'll give you one more clue, besides the look of the card itself: "Abbott and Costello"! Got it?
I really, really wanted to make a card based on this movie, but it was so hard to figure out how to do it. I didn't have any stamp sets that would work so I had to improvise! But the sentiments were from the stamp set, Well Said, so at least I had that!
- The circles were actually stamped with the ends of toilet paper tubes. I added a few drops of ink (Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green) in a small flat bowl container and added some more drops of water and mixed them together. (One ink at a time)
- I dipped one end of a toilet paper tube in the ink/water mixture and let it soak in for about 3 or 4 seconds, then removed it from the ink, checked to be sure that there was no bubble going across the opening of the tube, then 'stamped' it on the Shimmery White cardstock.
- I immediately got out my old, old Stampin' Up! Colour Spritzer Tool, and spritzed air puffs at places where there was more ink and water, to let the air move the ink into the little veins of ink coming off the circle edge.
- Then I dried the circle with a Heat Tool, and tried the next colour.
- The two sentiments from Well Said were stamped in Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green. One was stamped right on the Shimmery White paper at the bottom. The other was stamped on Whisper White cardstock in Gorgeous Grape, and punched out with the Lovely Label Pick-a-Punch. The width of the paper strip was just a hair under 1/2". The backing was made from a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock, just a hair under 3/4" wide, and punched on the same side of the Lovely Label Pick a Punch.
- The Shimmery White cardstock was backed with Gorgeous Grape cardstock 1/8th of an inch larger in both directions.
- The Coastal Cabana card base was topped with some In Good Taste Designer Series Paper in a hexagon tile pattern. The top sentiment is mounted using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Have you figured out the movie yet? It's Arrival with Amy Adams. I just love that movie. It's so well made and so clever! I love films that really make you wonder and think! If you're like me, you'll love Arrival.
Stampin' Up! is celebrating Hosts in June! When you host a party (virtual, likely) or even go on your own shopping spree (not hard to do with this amazing new Annual Catalogue) Stampin' Up! is adding an extra $30 to the Stampin' Rewards once you hit the threshold of $300. And here's an even better idea. Put your Stampin' Rewards towards a Starter Kit! At the very most, you would pay just $75 then to get the Kit and get $165 worth of more product, plus a free stamp set/tool bundle thanks to the June Starter Kit Promotion! Rock both promotions at once and win big time! Plus have at least 4 months of 20% discounts on your favourite Stampin' Up! products and get to see the new August/December Mini catalogue with all the new Christmas sets a whole month before the public and order a month early, too! Think about it carefully and let me know if you want to know how to make the most of both of these promotions!

You've certainly risen to the challenge, Heather! Above and beyond. You've intrigued me with this movie too now, so I might have to hunt it down.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jan! It's on Canadian Netflix. Don't know if you can get it in New Zealand.
