Nothing's Better Than...

nothing's better than

There was a stamp set in the 2020/21 Annual Catalogue that caught my eye almost from the beginning and it was an unusual one for me to like for a couple of reasons. I usually don't like food or alcohol sets and I usually don't like the cartoony type sets. This one was different for some reason, maybe because the designs were really sharp and the fonts looked so good together. Also the sentiments are so witty that they had me laughing right away. That stamp set is called Nothing's Better Than. It's available with it's coordinating die set: Love You More Than, in a bundle saving you 10%.

I wanted to practise doing a Facebook Live yesterday before doing my big class in the evening, so I got out the Nothing's Better Than stamp set to create a Quick & Cute card so I could try it on Facebook Live for a trial run. What came about was an easy but attractive card that anyone could whip up for a friend!

  • I chose chocolate as the addictive substance I wanted to create about, since I'm not a coffee drinker, and I have to go easy on cookies and I have no kids to bake them for and my hubby isn't supposed to have them either! But chocolate... oh, yeah! In moderate amounts (who's kidding who?) it's actually beneficial, so they say!
  • Due to chocolate, I used Early Espresso as my card base and then added a layer of the light, neutral In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. Before gluing that down though, I added a 2" strip wide strip of Rainbow Glimmer Paper at an angle to the DSP and trimmed off the excess. Because the Rainbow Glimmer Paper has every colour of the rainbow on it, each card has a slightly different palette to it according to where on the spectrum of the glimmer paper it falls.
  • I used the main glimmer paper colours for the coloured parts of the sentiments: Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana on the right card and Mango Melody and Flirty Flamingo on the left card. The sentiments are from the Nothing's Better Than set. The word Chocolate is a separate and is stamped in Early Espresso. Then I cut a strip of Whisper White to include those words. I used the Tailored Tag Punch to punch out the bottom sentiment.
  • When stamping the chocolates on Whisper White cardstock, I started with the solid background stamp in Soft Suede for the card on the left for dark chocolate and Crumb Cake for the card on the right. Then, matching the backgrounds, I added the Early Espresso outline image over top. It just takes a minute to line them up correctly as the stamp set is photopolymer.
  • I fussy cut the images and added them with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, which I had no issues with, sticking to the Glimmer Paper, as we have had in the past. Voila!
