True Love for As You See It Challenges

true love for as you see it challenges 1

It feels so good to get back in the swing of As You See It Challenges every other Friday, and I love the new graphics for our website designed by our team member, Amy Jasper! This week we have a Sketch Challenge and it's one concocted by yours truly!  Here's the Challenge Banner:

I decided to open my package of True Love Designer Series Paper for the first time and use both the flowers and the graphic designs on the back. I picked the medium sized flowers on the first design in the package and then some tiny black polka dots on a white background as another piece. For the round element I changed the shape and used a square vellum doily turned to a diamond shape and sponged with Petal Pink ink. Here's a closer look so you can see the doily.

  • I used Thick Whisper White, which I still have quite a bit of left, but you would have to order Thick Basic White now. From everything I've heard it's just as good, if not better than Whisper White.
  • I added some True Love Designer Series Paper, the polka dot design, but backed it with some Basic Black cardstock to give it some definition.
  • A Square Vellum Doily was sponged with Petal Pink ink using a Blending Brush and it was mounted to the left of the card front using glue dots where they would be covered by the heart and flowers.
  • I had a Champagne Foil heart in my scrap bin so added that on top of the doily with Stampin' Seal.
  • The flowers were fussy cut from a sheet of the True Love DSP and coloured in with the Petal Pink and Soft Seafoam Stampin' Blends Combos. They were mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I used the Always in My Heart Bundle for the sentiment, stamping it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and die cutting it with the banner die from the Floral Heart dies. Even though you can fold it so that it stands up 3D, I didn't want it above the flowers so used glue dots to hold it flat.
  • The ribbon is a retired one: Petal Pink metallic edged ribbon. I made a bow and added it using a glue dot. The final touches are a few Frosted Epoxy Droplets.

  1. I absolutely loved your sketch Heather even though it was well outside my comfort zone! Your non-traditionally coloured valentine is just beautiful. Those flowers are very pretty and I love the banner-style sentiment. Vicky x
