This week, The Paper Players are urging us to use something new on our projects for their challenge and I am trying out the *Suit & Tie Dies from the *Well Suited Suite from the new 2021 Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue! But not only did I try some new products I also created a new kind of card that I have dubbed the "Mullet Card" because it's "business in the front, party in the back"! You remember the mullet haircut, right?
Apparently, they are making a comeback now, so brace yourself! My problem was that I couldn't decide whether to make just a casual shirt or to go whole hog and make a suit jacket and formal shirt and tie! So I decided to do both...on one card!
Here's The Paper Player's Challenge Banner:
and here is how my mullet card works:
- I used the *Well Suited Designer Series Paper for all these designs. There is a great selection of designs suitable (see what I did there?) for shirts, for suits and for ties.
- The *Suit & Ties dies create the shirt collar or suit lapels, pocket, placket down the front for the buttons, a tie or bow tie, and even buttons. Dies that I didn't use can make belts and suspenders as well.
- For this party side, I chose sentiments from the Zany Zebras stamp set that seem to fit a party animal!
- You can see the great tweed looking design paper that was perfect for the suit jacket. I used the "v" die to cut the jacket opening and then the lapels die to die cut lapels to add over top of the "v" with dimensionals to pop it up a bit to make it more visible.
- The white shirt is made with Whisper White cardstock the same way as the previous shirt, except I didn't use buttons because they were hidden by the tie.
- I love that paper for the tie. You can cut out a separate knot piece to make it look even more realistic.
- The sentiments for this half of the card are from the Nothing's Better Than stamp set.
- The labels for both sides are from the Tasteful Labels Dies and the Stitched Rectangles Dies.
Now, if you want to see just how it's put together, look at these two photos:
- Anyway, I had fun with it! This is a great die set for masculine cards, especially birthday and Father's Day cards for dads, grandpas, and uncles! The coordinating stamp set, *Handsomely Suited, has some great sentiments for those occasions.
