This is my first Valentine card of the year and I made it with materials from the Love You Always Suite from the new Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue. It has some lovely Designer Series Paper and Foil and I was torn about which stamp bundle to get because they are both useful and very tempting. I picked the Always in My Heart Bundle strictly for that ornate heart die, but now I'm kind of wishing I'd picked the Forever & Always Bundle for the dies that coordinate with the True Love DSP and for the large die cut words. Oh, well, hindsight is 50/50 as they say!
I wanted to play along with the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #468. Here is the banner for the challenge:
Both the Love You Always Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Love You Always Foil Sheets have a shiny metallic finish, so make this card particularly flashy. I tend to like my Valentine cards to be a little-over-the-top, so this is okay with me. This design could be toned down by replacing some of the shiny foil with a similar colour in a plain designer paper or cardstock.
- The Love You Always Specialty Designer Series Paper is featured in the background and on the fourth layer - the smaller horizontal, Sahara Sand coloured one.
- The Love You Always Foil Sheets are used in the Blushing Bride vertical layer, and in the Sahara Sand heart die cut, which is found in the Floral Heart Dies.
- On top of the Sahara Sand Love You Always Specialty DSP layer, is a layer of the Pearlescent Paper found in the Sand & Sea Suite.
- The center of the heart is stamped on Very Vanilla in Blushing Bride ink, with an image from the Always in my Heart stamp set, and is die cut with the same die from the Floral Heart Dies, so the heart fits right in the center. The rest of the ornate Very Vanilla die cut can be saved for another project.
- Every layer is adhered flat to the card front except for the Sahara Sand Love You Always Specialty DSP, which is added with Stampin' Dimensionals.
- The die cut heart is added with Glue Dots.
- The finishing touch is the addition of several Pastel Pearls, from the Hydrangea Hill Suite.
