Winter Wishes and Merry Moments for Mojo Monday

Yes, it's another Christmas card today. One reason is that I'm preparing for my first Christmas Stamper's Dozen on Thursday. (You can register for that here.) Another reason that I inked up my *Winter Wishes Stamp set for the first time is because I'm really tired of all the forest fires in our area and south to Washington and Oregon. I'm wishing for some cooler weather to bring this horrible fire season to an end! You see, I live in a semi-arid climate that gets quite hot in the summer and this year has been a drought year worse than normal. We have had major forest fires in 2003 and 2009, and we came within 500 meters of losing our home in the last one. This year the major fires were some distance away, but very devastating, with many homes lost. And the season is not over yet! But with a wind from the south, all the smoke from the Washington fires blew north and settled in our valley. Here's a look at what the air quality is like in contrast with the usual view:

This photo was taken by Matt Warnet.

You can see why I'm anxious for some cooler weather! To make this card I was inspired by the sketch from Mojo Monday Challenges this week:

I turned it on end because it just seemed right for the skis to stand upright! Here's a closer look:

  • I've got to say that I was attracted to the *Winter Wishes Stamp Set the first time I laid eyes on it and I have big plans for that set! I teamed it up this time with the Merry Moment Designer Series Paper and Soft Suede and Mossy Meadows ink!
  • I stamped a collage of old fashioned winter sports equipment on the vertical piece using Soft Suede, Sahara Sand and Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
  • The sentiment is actually from the new *Versatile Christmas Stamp set! This one is going to be invaluable for all you Christmas Card stampers out there. There are so many great greetings for the outside AND the inside of your cards!
  • The wooden *Snowflake Elements gave just the right rustic touch to complete this card!
