Artistic Indulgence with Quiet Meadow Bundle

artistic indulgence with quiet meadow bundle 1

I forget what I was watching this morning. I think it was IGTV. But I saw someone create a beautiful mixed media journal cover in a vintage design and by the end I was positively drooling! It's been sooo long since I allowed myself the luxury of going all out with a vintage card design with a variety of media included and I have to say I really, really miss it!

I don't know why but lack of time is a huge factor, but also I know that simpler designs appeal to more people. However, I also know that the Real Me wants more and today I was inspired to give the Real Me free rein! I got out my Quiet Meadow bundle along with my Stitched Stars Dies, my Shimmery White Embossing Paste and a few odds and ends from my stash and this is what happened:

  • I started with a Soft Sea Foam base for its antique look and added some swipes of Whisper White Craft Ink. I die cut four flourishes from more Soft Sea Foam using the Stitched Stars Dies and glued them to the right front of the base, and added a strip of Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim to the left side. Then I sponged some Crumb Cake ink to specific areas of the card front to antique it.
  • I added some palette knife strokes of Shimmery White Embossing Paste to several areas of the card front. I would have used the matte finish if I had any, but I didn't.
  • I stamped partial bits of the script dies from the Very Versailles and Quiet Meadow stamp sets, using Memento ink, and the splatter stamp from the Quiet Meadow set with Crumb Cake Ink in a few selected spots.
  • I created a "door" by using a piece of the heavy chipboard that comes with our specialty DSP and covering it with wood grain DSP from the In Good Taste Series. I added a metal key hole I had in my stash to it.
  • Under the door I added a feather from my stash and two of the wild flower die cuts from the Meadows dies, coloured using the Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends Combo. Then this was attached to the card front.
  • I die cut all the wild flowers and grasses from the Meadows Dies from Basic White Thick cardstock and coloured them with Stampin' Blends markers.
  • I bundled them together and tied with some Very Vanilla twine leftover from a kit. I added a little Crumb Cake tag with the sentiment embossed in Black embossing powder from the Basics collection and sponged around the edges.
  • The little bouquet was glued to the "door" as shown.
  • I added a Ladybug Trinket which will be retiring soon, and a Bumblebee Trinket which I heat embossed with Gold, Silver & Copper embossing powder - the whole Metallics collection worth!
I think that's it! Boy, was that satisfying. I have to do that more often. I needed that creative fix really badly! I hope you enjoyed it, and thanks whoever you were on Insta for inspiring me again! (I wish I could remember who you were! I'd message you!)
