Rogues Gallery of Retiring Products

As you know, I am holidaying up in northern BC with my middle daughter, Kristen and her family. We came up to celebrate my only granddaughter's First Birthday!  This is the little lady here, bedecked in dandelions as could only be expected for the daughter of my dandelion loving offspring! (See this post.)

And here she is again! Quite a contrast as she sheds the niceties and digs into her birthday chocolate cake with gusto!

Since I have no access to my new catalogue pre-order goodies, I am concentrating on sharing some of the retiring products from the 2014 - 15 Annual Catalogue as a public service, to make sure you don't miss out on something that you really wanted, but hadn't had an opportunity to order yet. Splattered Frame Cut Out Card

This is one of my favourite cards that I made at the Creative Escape Weekend. The card was inspired by a Valentine card made by my upline, who was originally inspired by Erica Cerwin. I just checked out her blog and it is awesome! I'm definitely going to subscribe! This card features a splatter design made from stamping and embossing with a shape die cut in the middle of it. I thought it might fit for The Paper Player's Tic Tac Toe Challenge, but it is missing polka dots or sequins, so I shall have to come up with something different for that challenge.

• This card is super fun to make. After adding the Pistachio Pudding layer to the Island Indigo card base, I took the upper Whisper White panel and stamped images from Gorgeous Grunge in Island Indigo and Pistachio Pudding and embossed some images in Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder. I concentrated it in the middle but spread some images toward the outside edges. When I was done, it honestly looked like a hot mess! 
• I then took one of the Ovals Collection Framelits and die cut the oval frame, centered except a little closer to the top than the bottom. That left the cool spattered design around the outside of the frame that looked much better than before die cutting!
• On a separate, smaller piece of Whisper White, I stamped the coral in Pistachio Pudding and embossed the seahorse image from By The Tide in Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder. On another piece of Whisper White, I stamped the starfish image from By the Seashore in Island Indigo and hand cut it.
• I mounted the frame using Dimensionals, but before removing the covers from the dimensionals, I positioned the smaller piece with the coral underneath and glued it down. I repositioned and added the oval frame piece. The sentiment is from And Many More and I punched it with the Word Window Punch, and added another punched from Island Indigo and cut in half to frame it.

By the Tide for As You See It Challenges

Wow! It's Friday!  Where did the week go? It's time for another Design Team card for As You See It Challenges.  Today's card just seemed to evolve into a sea theme using By The Tide stamp set. Here is the thought process that helped me to end up there: I started with the sketch for As You See It Challenges #078:

Then I decided, that with all the open space at the bottom, I could use the Irresistibly Yours DSP, and I decided I would use spritzers on it. As I looked through the spritzers I already had mixed, I saw I had both Island Indigo and Pistachio Pudding, a colour combination that I just love. I chose this particular decorative design from the six designs in the package that you can earn free with a $60 purchase until the end of March, during Sale-A-Bration.

I spritzed the paper and discovered that the Island Indigo also had some Shimmer Smooch Spritz in it and I ended up with a beautiful shimmery background that reminded me of fish scales. Because I have been wanting to do another seaside card, I ran right over and got out my By the Seashore and By the Tide stamp sets and this is what resulted:

• The netting you see on this card is actually some gauze bandage added to a layer of Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, which dries clear. I added it in the bottom left corner and up the left side and partially along the bottom edge, folding it over to vary the thickness and density and give the card some texture. I had to use a sheet of acetate to press the gauze down, because once the glue got on my fingers, it was actually destructive using my bare hands!
• I stamped the images from By the Tide and By the Seashore using Island Indigo and Pistachio Pudding ink on Whisper White, and put my ecutter to work, trimming the images to use. I added them to the card front using Glue Dots.
• The banner across the top is embossed with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and I added some Sweet Sadie Washi Tape and White Baker's Twine.
• The sentiment is from the And Many More stamp set, stamped here in Island Indigo. The final touches were some sequins from the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim. You can easily remove the sequins from the trim and glue them to your project separately using a tiny dot of Liquid Multipurpose Glue.
